Overview

New Jersey’s state and local governments are committed to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of residents - to ensure that the Garden State continues to be a desirable, safe, and enviable place to live.

The Center for Government Services at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, assists the Bureau of Code Services in the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs by annually offering more than 300 technical and administrative seminars required by law for construction code enforcement officials, technical assistants, and multiple dwelling inspectors. The goal is to further the professional development of code enforcement personnel by providing quality programs for licensed inspectors and support staff.

In 2005 an amendment appeared in the New Jersey registry, increasing the mandatory continuing education requirements for licensed Hotels and Multiple Dwellings, and Housing Code officials for each three-year license cycle.

Course Descriptions

The Rutgers Center for Government Services Continuing Education Program offers technical seminars in the following code areas:

  • Building

Additionally, administrative seminars are offered for all code enforcement officials.

A full list of current offerings is available in the Downloads box on the right sidebar of this web page.
