Research
The Center for Government Services conducts research projects and develops materials useful as background information on New Jersey state and local government. In addition, the Center suggests ways to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and performance of government through its research activities. It also develops study materials useful in continuing education and professional development programs for government personnel.
Working closely with the Center for Executive Leadership in Government (CELG), another component of the Division of Continuing Studies, the faculty undertakes research projects as the request of new Jersey policy makers and government officials that is designed to address critical policy issues such as education, taxation, governmental configurations and other areas that affect public services.
Research projects conducted by the Center have five major goals:

To provide information to policy-makers and government officials that assist them in making informed choices about public services

To develop materials useful as background and/or historical information on New Jersey state and local government

To suggest and evaluate ways to improve the performance of state and local government

To provide updated information to state and local goverments regarding trends and patterns related to demographics, spending and services

To develop study materials useful in continuing education programs for state and local government personnel.
Additionally, the Center produces various publications, including the annual Legislative District Data Book.
