This series of courses is designed for those interested in increasing their knowledge of public purchasing, as well as public officials desiring the State of New Jersey's Qualified Purchasing Agent (QPA) certification and/or the Rutgers University Registered Public Purchasing Official (RPPO) or the Registered Public Purchasing Specialist (RPPS) certificate. The program provides a comprehensive foundation of public procurement; it is designed to equip public officials with a clear understanding of their roles, responsibilities, and legal obligations in the public procurement process.
The program has four required courses:
Principles of Public Purchasing I (no prerequisites)
Principles of Public Purchasing II (prerequisite: Principles of Public Purchasing I)
Principles of Public Purchasing III (prerequisite: Principles of Public Purchasing II)
- Municipal Finance Administration (no prerequisites)
We also offer the QPA Exam Review course. This course is not required but is highly recommended for those who plan to sit for the QPA exam.
State Exam Requirements
All four courses are required before taking the New Jersey State QPA exam. This state licensing exam is administered by the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) twice a year. Additional information and the DCA application form are available at the DCA website.
